Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Schaumburg is compact enough that a two mile move changes the character of a day, from the retail density around Woodfield to the curving park grid on the western side of the village. These areas stand out for renters:

West Schaumburg
The western side of the village trades the grid for streets that bend around ponds and greenways, and it runs up against Hoffman Estates near Barrington Road. Woodbury Place sits here on Knollwood Drive just south of Golf Road, directly next door to Golf and Knollwood Park. Ascension Saint Alexius, a Level II trauma center, is under a mile north.

Weathersfield
The original Campanelli subdivision from the 1960s and 1970s occupies the village core south of Schaumburg Road, with ranch and split level homes on tree lined streets. Campanelli, Jaycee, Dooley, Terada, and Pochet parks are scattered through it. Rentals here are mostly townhomes and smaller courtyard buildings.

Woodfield
Built around the 2.2 million square foot Woodfield Mall, this is one of Schaumburg's most concentrated shopping and entertainment areas. Streets of Woodfield, the LEGOLAND Discovery Center, and one of only two IKEA stores in Illinois all sit within the same few blocks. Only a fraction of the area is residential, concentrated near Birch Park.

Timbercrest
This quieter stretch between Bode Road and Roselle Road has mature landscaping and well kept streets. The Meineke Recreation Center anchors it, with a pool, fitness space, and park district programming. It sits roughly midway between the Woodfield corridor and the western park district land.

Few Chicago suburbs let a corporate job, a park district membership, and a fifteen minute commute coexist the way this one does. Nearly 5,000 businesses employ more than 80,000 people inside Schaumburg's roughly 20 square miles. Four things define living here:

A Golden Corridor Job Base of 80,000
Zurich North America employs roughly 2,458 people on Zurich Way, Motorola Solutions runs its world headquarters at 2000 Progress Parkway with about 1,568 employees, and Paylocity and ADP each employ 1,000 or more. Community Consolidated School District 54 is the third largest employer in the village at about 2,440. From Woodbury Place, that corridor is a ten minute drive east on Golf Road.

1,100 Acres of Parkland and 90 Miles of Bike Path
The Schaumburg Park District maintains roughly 1,100 acres across more than 80 parks and open spaces, and it has won the National Gold Medal Award three times. The village bike network runs more than 90 miles, with a bridge over I-90 connecting Town Square to the 7.2 mile loop trail at Paul Douglas Preserve. Golf and Knollwood Park, with tennis courts striped for pickleball and a picnic shelter, sits directly next door to Woodbury Place.

Rankings That Hold Up
Money magazine ranked Schaumburg number 9 on its 2017 Best Places to Live in the United States list, then named it the best place to live in Illinois in 2018. Niche gives the village an overall A+ grade in its 2026 rankings and places it 52nd of 363 best suburbs to live in Illinois, with a population of 76,868.

Two Independent Routes Into Chicago
The Barrington Road interchange on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway carries a Pace park and ride with bus ramps built into the tollway itself, the first in line transit station on an Illinois interstate. The Schaumburg Metra station on Springinsguth Road runs the Milwaukee District West line 26.5 miles to Chicago Union Station. Downtown Chicago is about 30 miles southeast and O'Hare International Airport about 13 miles east.

From Woodbury Place, residents regularly head to:

  • Woodfield Mall
  • Streets of Woodfield
  • LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago
  • Topgolf Schaumburg
  • Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament
  • Wintrust Field, home of the Schaumburg Boomers
  • Spring Valley Nature Center and Heritage Farm
  • Schaumburg Golf Club
  • Al Larson Cultural Center
  • Paul Douglas Preserve
  • Golf and Knollwood Park
  • IKEA Schaumburg

Golf and Knollwood Park is the closest of these by a wide margin, sitting directly next to Woodbury Place.

Woodbury Place residents reach the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway at Barrington Road in under two miles, and the Schaumburg Metra station puts Chicago Union Station 26.5 rail miles away on the Milwaukee District West line. Most never make that trip daily, because Schaumburg itself employs more than 80,000 people across nearly 5,000 businesses. Major employers within an easy commute include:

  • Woodfield Mall (Schaumburg)
  • Zurich North America (Schaumburg)
  • Community Consolidated School District 54 (Schaumburg)
  • Motorola Solutions, world headquarters (Schaumburg)
  • Paylocity (Schaumburg)
  • ADP (Schaumburg)
  • Wheels, Inc. (Schaumburg)
  • Nation Pizza Products (Schaumburg)
  • Village of Schaumburg
  • Illinois Department of Transportation (Schaumburg)
  • Sunstar Americas (Schaumburg)
  • IKEA (Schaumburg)
  • Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel (Schaumburg)
  • Ascension Saint Alexius (Hoffman Estates)
  • Harper College (Palatine)

Ascension Saint Alexius is the closest of the group, standing less than a mile north of Woodbury Place on Barrington Road.

Amenities at Woodbury Place are built around the 19 acres the community occupies and a set of social spaces that were redesigned to match:

Nineteen Acres and a Park on the Property Line
The community spreads 300 apartment homes across 23 low rise buildings, mature trees, and open lawn. Golf and Knollwood Park sits directly next door, adding tennis courts striped for pickleball, ball fields, a playground, and a picnic shelter. A fenced bark park handles shorter outings, and up to two pets are welcome per home with breed restrictions.

A Resident Lounge Meant for Lingering
The lounge was rebuilt around a fireplace, a pool table, game tables, and a flat screen television, with a full gourmet kitchen for gatherings that outgrow a living room. A complimentary coffee and tea bar sits nearby and Wi-Fi runs free through every social space. Planned resident events fill the calendar through the year.

Pool Deck, Grill Station, and an Outdoor Fireplace
A resort style pool and sundeck with locker rooms carry the short Illinois summer. Alongside it, a brick and stainless steel grilling station shares the outdoor living space with a fireplace and a firepit, which stretches the season into autumn evenings. The whole setup faces the open lawn rather than a parking lot.

Buildings That Stay Open at Two in the Morning
The fitness center, the business center with its complimentary desktop computers, and the touch free package lockers all run 24/7, and every building has its own laundry room open at any hour. Entry is controlled, maintenance answers emergencies around the clock, and management keeps an office on the grounds. Woodbury Place is 100% smoke free and charges no security deposit.
